Real Madrid: Casemiro and Man United agree – 80m rejected for Antony

Ancelotti confirms change request

After the false start in the Premier League and 20th place, the rumor mill at Manchester United has literally boiled over in the past few days. At least one transfer is concrete in the English record champions: Casemiro should come from Real Madrid. Like English (“The Athletic” & “TheTelegraph“) and Spanish (including “mark” & “Onda Cero“) Media reports that the 30-year-old defensive midfielder has agreed with the “Red Devils” on a contract until 2026 with an option for another year. This should bring Casemiro an annual salary of around 20 million euros gross – about twice as much as in Madrid.

Real, where coach Carlo Ancelotti is considered a big advocate of the Brazilian, have yet to accept an offer from Manchester. However, a rethinking of the “royal” is increasingly expected. Noisy Fabrizio Romano this should happen this Friday. There is a transfer offer of EUR 60 million with bonuses of a further EUR 10 million on the table. This would make Casemiro (market value: 40 million) the second most expensive over-30 player in football history after Cristiano Ronaldo, who left Real for Juventus for 117 million euros in 2018, and equal to Miralem Pjanic.

Update 12:50 p.m.: Ancelotti confirmed Casemiro’s desire to change at a press conference on Friday afternoon. “That’s a subject I discussed with him this morning. He wants to take on a new challenge. The club and I understand that. Because of his achievements for the club and what he is, we have to respect his wish. There are currently negotiations, nothing is official. He’s still a Real Madrid player but his will is to leave. If he leaves and an agreement is found, we have options to replace him,” said the Italian (quoted via “realtotal.de“).

In Madrid, the 63-time national player is still under contract until 2025. His legitimate successor, Aurélien Tchouameni, has already been signed this summer, with €80m going to AS Monaco. At least in the first year, the Frenchman should have learned from Casemiro, who has won all the titles with Real, including the Champions League five times.

From the ridiculed “Calimero” to a club legend and a player that no one here likes to see go, despite the fairly high transfer fee for a 6er at that age. Because we and everyone in the club know exactly how important and quality he is and that he cannot be replaced on an equal footing this summer. Because it was unimaginable that he would be the first of the trio to leave us, and that too for a club that currently has nothing to do with money, history and a huge “challenge”.

“The Athletic”: Manchester United fails with 80 million offer for Antony

Casemiro’s compatriot Antony from Ajax Amsterdam could have been even more expensive from Man United’s point of view. As “The Athletic” reported, the “Red Devils” offered around 80 million euros for the 22-year-old right winger. The Dutch champions refused, however, after Lisandro Martínez (24; United), Sébastien Haller (28; BVB), Noussair Mazraoui (24), Ryan Gravenberch (20; both FC Bayern) or Nicolás Tagliafico (29) did not want any other top performers lose format. From United’s point of view, a commitment from PSV professional Cody Gakpo (23) is more likely.
