After Bayern’s defeat in Mainz, Eintracht Frankfurt could have moved within three points of Munich. But nothing came of it.

RB Leipzig won the duel between the Bayern hunters. The Saxons (fourth place) beat Eintracht Frankfurt (second place) 2-1 in a thrilling game and moved level in the table on points. Eintracht now has to give up second place in the Bundesliga to Bayer Leverkusen. The “Werkself” won 2-0 at FC Augsburg on Saturday.

The goals for Leipzig were scored by Benjamin Šeško (19th minute) and Loïs Openda (51st). Nathaniel Brown (40th) equalized for Eintracht shortly before the break.

With the win, Leipzig moves within seven points of Bayern and is now ready for the direct duel next Friday in Munich.
