Ministers Van der Wal and Staghouwer will present the cabinet’s plans for reducing nitrogen emissions during a press conference this afternoon. The press conference can be seen on TV Drenthe, via rtvdrenthe.nl and in the app.
The press conference in The Hague will take place after the Council of Ministers. It is impossible to say in advance what time that will be. It will be in the second half of the afternoon.
Van der Wal (Nature and Nitrogen) and Staghouwer (Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality) announce how much less nitrogen may be emitted per area in order to protect vulnerable nature. This will have far-reaching consequences for farmers in particular.
Van der Wal will focus in particular on the nitrogen problem, Staghouwer will elaborate on making agriculture more sustainable. The agricultural sector fears that the new policy will kill many farms around Natura 2000 areas.
