Parquet appeals against the release of Lil Kleine, Sony Music “does not want to comment” showbiz

showbizThe public prosecutor in Amsterdam has appealed against the release of Lil Kleine (27). The rapper was detained for a few days on suspicion of assaulting his fiancée Jaimie Vaes (32), but was allowed to leave prison on Wednesday by the investigating judge. Meanwhile, Sony Music, the rapper’s label, has decided not to comment on the matter.

Lil Kleine, whose real name is Jorik Scholten, was detained for three nights on suspicion of attempted aggravated assault or assault. It has not been disclosed what conditions the investigating judge has attached to the suspension of his pre-trial detention. The prosecutor’s office does not agree with the magistrate’s decision, and believes that there are sufficiently serious objections to detain the rapper longer.

It often happens that the judiciary appeals against a decision of the investigating judge, says a spokesperson. The council chamber of the court must now consider it. This is happening behind closed doors and it is not yet known when that will happen.

The musician’s lawyer, Nienke Hoogervorst, said that Vaes has not (yet) filed a report. According to the public prosecutor, this is not necessary to prosecute.

Sony Music

Sony Music, the record label where Lil Kleine would release his albums in the future, has been silent for days. They would partner with him after the rapper broke with his record label TopNotch, which launched his most recent record two weeks ago. After the incident, Sony said on Monday it was “considering a statement”, but on Thursday evening the company decided not to respond — which it is facing a lot of criticism. A spokesman said Thursday that he would not comment further on the matter. It is not clear whether Sony will collaborate with Lil Kleine in the future.
