For AFC, 2022 ended with a positive feeling. The leader of the second division defeated challenger De Treffers 2-0. OFC fell well against competitor IJsselmeervogels (0-3) and is firmly at the bottom of the ranking.
AFC – The Hits 2-0
36′ Kevin Visser 1-0
80′ Brian Campman ed 2-0
AFC is therefore entering the winter break as the leader of the second division. The first opportunity was for Melvin Platje, but he aimed the ball just wide. Raily Ignacio, his partner in the attack, hit the post hard. Moments later, he headed wide from a promising position. The opening phase was mainly for AFC, but De Treffers then came out of his shell. Brian Campman and Gavin Vlijter had chances for the opening goal. The home team opened the score through Kevin Visser. He poked the ball behind goalkeeper Niels Kornelis, after Ignacio’s first bet was turned.
The Groesbekers did not give up and almost equalized through Campman. The turning point in the match was a red card for Ricardo Ippel. He thwarted an AFC counter and had to take a shower earlier. Campman doubled the lead of the team from Amsterdam in the final phase. A marker from substitute Thijs Jesse went towards the goal, but Campman gave the decisive tap: 2-0.
AFC is at the top of the second division and has four points ahead of number three De Treffers. HHC from Hardenberg is second and only has one point less. IJsselmeervogels is the next opponent on January 21.
OFC – IJsselmeer Birds 0-3
6′ Steven Sanchez 0-1
13′ Mike van de Laar 0-2
44′ Jordy Ruizendaal 0-3
The year ended on a minor note for OFC. The Oostzaners were unbeaten in the past three games, but lost against competitor IJsselmeervogels. Steven Sanchez took the quick lead on a pass from Mitchel Willems: 0-1. The grapes became even more sour for OFC within fifteen minutes, after Mike van de Laar doubled the margin: 0-2. The visitors then had chances through Youssef Blel and Van de Laar. Blel assisted Jordy Ruizendaal just before half-time. He scored the third goal of the afternoon.
As many goals as the first half was, the game was so boring after the break. A scrimmage in front of OFC’s goal resulted in danger, but no goal against. In the counter-punch, the home team became dangerous through Soufiane Reclaoui. His effort was stopped by goalkeeper Maarten List. In the remaining part of the game, the Oostzaners tried to force something, but to no avail.
The defeat leaves OFC last in the second division. To make matters worse, competitor IJsselmeervogels has reached seven points. The next game is January 22 against TEC.
Spakenburg – Royal HFC 1-0
39′ Floris van der Linden 1-0
In the confrontation between Koninklijke HFC and Spakenburg it took a long time before there was a significant chance. After a nice action by Zakaria Eddahchouri, his shot was blocked. Sietse Brandsma then had a big opportunity on an error by Masies Artien. The attacker of HFC did not get the ball behind Alessandro Damen. Floris van der Linden then scored the 1-0.
After the break, chances were few and far between for both sides. A shot from Quinten Dekkers was caught by Damen and Luuk couldn’t surprise Admiraal Mitchel Michaelis in the counterpunch. It didn’t lead to any goals in the rest of the game. In injury time, Robin Eindhoven got red after commenting on the lead.
HFC is fourteenth in the second division and will play against Jong FC Volendam after the winter break.
Young FC Volendam – Katwijk 0-1
41’Ahmed El Azzouti 0-1
Jong FC Volendam narrowly lost the last game in 2022 to Katwijk. The first chance, however, was for the Palingboeren. A cross from Joey Antonioli was cleared by Robbert Susan. Goalkeeper Barry Lauwers then kept his team on track. For example, he turned shots from Ahmed El Azzouti and Tim Freriks. Moments later, Lauwers had no chance with a bet by El Azzouti, but the goal was disallowed for offside. Just before that, Diego Gustavo had shot just over. El Azzouti still made 1-0 just before half-time from a cross from Killian van Mil.
After the break, El Azzouti continued to cause danger. A hard long shot from the goal scorer was blocked by Lauwers and he also grabbed a header from Susan that followed. Imran Nazih then shot full on the crossbar. The Volendam youngsters tried to force something in the remainder of the match, but they were unsuccessful.
Jong FC Volendam remains in second to last place in the second division and saw IJsselmeervogels run out. The North Holland derby against Koninklijke HFC is scheduled for January 22.
