OFC stops Sunday selection and disappears from the top of amateur football

Amateur club OFC does not register the Sunday team for the upcoming competition. The team relegated from the second division will therefore not play in the third division. This will put an end to amateur football at the highest level in Oostzaan for the time being.

“Those who have followed the media a bit know that the last few seasons have been tough for the players, staff, volunteers and the board. Many factors have ensured that we had to make the difficult decision not to continue with a ZO1”, says know the club on its website.

At OFC there was always a lot to do about finances. Former lender Marwan K. is suspected of money laundering and cocaine trafficking. The club has always denied having been a link in this. It was also a coming and going of players every season and during this season it was announced that many players would leave.

Second Division

Last year Pieter Mulders’ team was promoted to the second division. The highest amateur level was a size too big for the Zaankanters. It was already known well before the end of the competition that OFC would be relegated to the third division again. Next season, Mulders will be the trainer of Viederklasser VV Unicum from Lelystad.

So top amateur football is coming to an end. The first team on Saturday will now be the flagship. That team fights for survival in the third division.
