RKC Waalwijk has provided a great result in the Eredivisie. The Brabant players gave the higher placed AZ its third defeat in four matches: 3-1.
AZ took the lead in the ninth minute via Jesper Karlsson, but saw RKC come alongside when goalkeeper Verhulst misjudged a long shot by Iliass Bel Hassani: 1-1.
RKC took some distance in the final phase of the second half and substitute Zakaria Bakkali made the difference. The former PSV player hit the inside of the post in the 87th minute (2-1). Shortly afterwards, AZ keeper Verhulst again made a mistake with an assumption. Bakkali took the ball and completed the Waalwijk party.
Thanks to the victory, RKC climbed to ninth place in the ranking with 17 points.
