New series and films on Sky in July 2022

In addition to Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video, Sky is also one of the major streaming providers in Germany. Users can stream a wide range of films and series via Sky Q or the WOW, formerly Sky Ticket, which can be canceled monthly. TECHBOOK reveals which Sky innovations await us in July and August 2022.

Sky is one of the major streaming providers on the market. Since June 2022, the former Sky ticket offer has been called WOW. In the course of the rebranding, the entertainment package became WOW series, and the film package can be booked in addition to the WOW Films & Series tariff. Customers will then have a large number of new films and series at their disposal, with new content added every month. The same applies to Sky Q. TECHBOOK reveals what innovations Sky has to offer in July.

New series on Sky Q and WOW in August and July

In June, some series highlights can be seen again on Sky. We are looking forward to the 3rd seasons of “Barry” and the Swedish series “Black Lake”. If you are interested in history, you can, among other things, refer to the documentary “22. July – The shots from Munich”. The production sheds light on the background to the 2016 assassination in four parts. The hit series 9-1-1: Lone Star continues, as does the documentary series Monkey Life.

Barry (Season 3) – from July 6th

The Staircase (Season 1) – Coming July 22nd

Coming to Sky in July, this miniseries follows a true story. Kathleen Peterson (Tony Collette) is the second wife of crime writer Michael Peterson (Colin Firth). The two seem to have a harmonious marriage – until Kathleen is found dead at the bottom of a staircase. Michael is suspected but maintains his innocence. He and his family land ever deeper in a media spectacle.

New films on Sky Q and WOW im August and July

Sky’s July film selection includes a few highlights. With “Spider Man: No Way Home” one of the biggest blockbusters of the past year comes to Sky. Stillwater is Matt Damon’s attempt to exonerate his daughter who has been arrested abroad, while music fans are in for a treat with Dear Evan Hansen. With “Schachnovelle” there is also a great German-language production.

Spider-Man: No Way Home (coming July 15)

“Spider Man: No Way Home” was THE cinema event in 2021 – now the Marvel blockbuster will land on Sky in July. After Spider-Man’s true identity as Peter Parker is revealed, the high school student (Tom Holland) faces a divided public. After all, those around him suffer as a result. To undo everything, Peter turns to Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). This opens the door to alternative realities.

Chess novella (from July 16)

This historical drama is based on the novel of the same name by the Austrian writer Stefan Zweig. In 1938 the notary Dr. Josef Bartok (Oliver Masucci) in Vienna. In the course of the annexation of Austria to Nazi Germany, he was arrested and told to reveal internal information from his office. In order to avoid torture, he finally plays chess with Gestapo member Franz-Josef Böhm. After not being particularly interested in the game at first, he developed a visibly manic obsession with chess.

Dear Evan Hansen (from July 20th)

High school is difficult enough as it is, and Evan Hansen (Ben Platt) has an anxiety disorder on top of that. His therapist gives him the task of writing letters to himself. One of these letters finally falls into the hands of a classmate who commits suicide shortly thereafter. When the letter is found, everyone assumes the two boys were friends, and suddenly Evan gets a whole new level of sympathy and attention.
