This official is a case for his colleagues!
The police are investigating in their own ranks because of a xenophobic failure. Reason: An employee was insulted by a manager because of the color of his skin. “The first official consequences have already been drawn,” said a police spokesman when asked.
According to BZ information, the case took place in section 42, responsible for Schöneberg-Süd and Friedenau. On September 10, a young dark-skinned police officer stood in front of a tableau on which the patrol car partners were assigned.
Supervisor M. saw the colleague and is said to have said: “Well, are you thinking about how much the rolls cost in Africa?” According to testimonies, the officer who was discriminated against is said to have “swallowed the sentence and left”, as it is said.
One employee didn’t hesitate. The police spokesman: “A manager who was also present immediately asked about the feelings of the employee concerned, confronted the guard leader with his misconduct and made it clear that discriminatory behavior is not tolerated in the Berlin police.”
Finally the three of us sat down at a table. In the conversation, the security guard apologized and “explained that he was far from discriminatory behavior,” the police spokesman continued.
The colleague concerned was made aware of offers of advice and help. The incident was documented in writing and presented to the police chiefs. According to BZ information, both officials have called in sick.
“The statement itself is certainly not relevant under criminal law,” said an official from the section, “but this mindset, this attitude behind it, is a real danger.”
