Elon Musk inevitably linked to Tesla
The US electric car manufacturer Tesla was founded in 2003 by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning. Even if the current CEO Elon Musk only joined the company in 2004 with an initial cash injection of 6.5 million US dollars, the jack-of-all-trades can officially call himself a co-founder after a legal dispute with Eberhard in 2009, as reported in a report by “CNET ” is called. Shortly after joining the company in 2004, Musk became chairman of the board of directors – and the largest Tesla shareholder. It was not until 2008 that the entrepreneur was appointed CEO of the E Group. After a lawsuit by the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Musk resigned as chairman in 2018, but retained the executive board. The authority became aware of the entrepreneur after he had shared his plans for a possible delisting of Tesla on Twitter, which led to price capers for Tesla titles on the NASDAQ.
First master plan promises cheaper Tesla vehicles
As early as 2006, Musk published a text on the vehicle manufacturer’s website, which he titled “Tesla Motors’ secret master plan”. At that time, the Tesla Roadster had only been presented, which then came onto the market in 2008. In the long term, however, they want to “build a wide range of models, including inexpensive family cars”. Tesla’s overall goal is to “accelerate the transition from a hydrocarbon-producing and burning economy to a solar-electric economy,” Musk said. The early models are inevitably expensive, but with the money earned in this way they want to gradually offer cheaper vehicles in order to achieve the company’s goal.
Masterplan 2 announces new models and features
Almost ten years later, Musk finally published a blog entry titled “Master Plan, Part Two.” This included the integration of energy generation and storage, the expansion of the vehicle range to the “most important forms of ground traffic”, autonomous driving and car sharing using “Tesla taxis”. The first units of the Tesla Semi series have already been delivered, but production of the Cybertruck pickup has been postponed to summer 2023. “Full self-driving” of Tesla cars and earning money with your own car is not yet possible. However, solar panels and roofs as well as battery storage are now sold via the solar subsidiary Tesla Energy.
Tesla stock: Investor Day in March
The next investor day of the group is on March 1st, as the CEO recently announced via Twitter. Some institutional as well as private investors should be able to participate in the event, which will take place in the Gigafactory Texas. Guests will be able to both tour the production lines at the factory and participate in a discussion of the company’s future plans, Tesla said in the official announcement. The event will also be streamed live.

But that’s not all: As can be seen from Musk’s announcement tweet, the CEO also wants to present the third part of his master plan there. “The Master Plan 3, the path to a fully sustainable energy future for the Earth, will be unveiled on March 1st,” the entrepreneur wrote on his profile. “The future is bright!”
focus on scaling
“The essence of Master Plan 3 is about scaling,” Musk explained at the annual shareholder meeting in August 2022. The plan will mainly deal with the scaling of vehicle production and supply chains and “simply look at the overall problem from a global macroeconomic point of view and determine what is needed to achieve a fully sustainable economy,” said the group leader. “Because I think a lot of people don’t know what amounts of lithium, cathodes, anodes, separators, electrolytes and electronics are needed to move to a fully sustainable global economy, and I think the sooner we do that the better for the planet. And I think we just have to articulate that and make it clear that it’s absolutely doable.”
Is Tesla introducing a new electric car?
Experts also expect Musk to take the opportunity to unveil a new electric model. As early as November 2022, the Reuters news agency reported, citing internal information, that Tesla was working on a new electric car. The Twitter user “The Kilowatts” meanwhile reported on prototypes of the newcomer, which are said to have already been spotted on US roads. According to experts, the vehicle, codenamed “Highland”, could be a further development of the Model 3.
It remains to be seen whether the rumors about the upcoming Investor Day are true or whether Musk still has an ace up his sleeve.
