The 59-year-old Phan Thi Kim Phuc reminds me of the great day that still happened. “When we were children we liked to play in the building of the school on the inside of the temple. I remembered that the South-Vietnamese soldiers near the middle of the day the plots started, they started to run because the children mostly race,” reported CBS4. Na de ingrijpende beurtenis bleef de vrouw nog jarenlang wonen in Vietnam. In 1992 the seeds were sold with real hair to Canada. Phuch heeft zich long tijd business for the wereldberoemde photo, maar geleidelijk aan leerde ze zichzelf te accepteren. ,,Well, that’s about a year later, it’s not longer and the door is closed, it’s not longer het ‘napalmmeisje’. Nu ben ik someones vriend, someone who helps others, a big moeder. Now I don’t have to exceed the proposed dead vrede.”

“Ik most de behandeling twaalf keer ondergaan, maar nu heb ik veel minder pijn”, says Phuc. The next few small-scale laser treatments should be carried out later. “Ze zet er en happy uit, ze is altijd aan het Lachen”, says also photographer Nick Ut, who still regularly contacts Phuc.
