- From October 31 to November 6, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate together with partners is organizing the National Climate Week 2022.
- The National Climate Week is intended to draw attention to climate change and to give a stage to sustainable and climate-conscious initiatives that are already being developed in society.
- Also this year, the ministry is looking for Climate Mayors and Climate Supporters; people, companies, or other organizations that are actively committed to a better climate and are willing to share their stories during the National Climate Week and thereby inspire others.
The Netherlands has great climate ambitions. By 2030, the CO2emissions in the Netherlands have fallen by at least 55%, as a prelude to a climate-neutral, fossil-free and circular Netherlands by 2050. The sooner we all reduce CO2 emissions, the faster we slow down climate change and achieve that perspective. That is why the Ministry of EZK is organizing the National Climate Week. During this week, the Ministry of Economic Affairs will draw attention in all kinds of ways to sustainable, climate-conscious initiatives that are being developed in society. Last year, no fewer than 142 Climate Mayors committed themselves in their own way to make a positive contribution to the climate and inspired the Netherlands to deal with the climate more consciously.
Climate Mayors
This year, the ministry is also looking for a Climate Mayor for as many municipalities in the Netherlands as possible. This is someone who is committed to reducing CO . in his or her municipality, district or neighborhood2to reduce emissions. That can be a big initiative, but also something small. For example, someone who saves a lot of energy in an original way with the neighborhood or who consumes more climate-consciously. A Climate Mayor shares his or her story within his or her own network, in local media and/or organizes an action or event during the National Climate Week. Last year, various Climate Mayors also entered into discussions with the real mayor about what still needs to be done to achieve the climate goals in his or her municipality. Does this sound like something to you and are you the Climate Mayor we are looking for? Or do you know someone? You can register via: www.nkw2022.nl†
