RRome, 9 June. (askanews) – A stellar cast at the Marefestival Salina for the 15 years of the Troisi Prize. From 12 to 14 June the island is transformed into an exceptional stage: the maestro Giancarlo Giannini, the actors Cristiana Capotondi, Chiara Francini, Aurora Quattrocchi, Corinne Cléry, Vincenzo Ferrera, the director Marco Risi, Maria Grazia Cucinotta (godmother since the first edition), the jazz saxophonist Nat Minutoli, Gerardo Ferrara (double for Il Postino.

“From Friday 12th to Sunday 14th June we will transform the island of Salina into a capital of cinema – declares the journalist Massimiliano Cavaleri, artistic director and creator of the event together with colleagues Patrizia Casale and Francesco Cappello – the festival, which takes place in the squares of the Municipalities of Santa Marina Salina, led by the mayor Domenico Arabia and of Malfa, of which the newly elected Giuseppe Siracusano is mayor, will be an important cultural event with awards ceremonies, interviews, screenings, focus on current issues and collateral events”.

Among the meetings promoted on the occasion of the event, the one dedicated to transport: “It will be an opportunity to inaugurate a small infrastructural jewel, the new port of Malfa – declares councilor Aricò – who will be among the speakers of the talk show which will involve institutional representatives to take stock of the mobility of the Aeolian archipelago”.

Salina does not have a cinema: “It is the cinema that goes to the homes of people and islanders – says President Tarantino – commemorating a figure like Troisi is essential to keep alive the memory of precious references of Italian cinema. I am very attached to this island also for my friendship with the late mayor Clara Rametta, a visionary who carried forward the project of creating a cinema theater for the Aeolian Islands”.
