Majority of lung covid patients completely rejected | Inland

Two years after the first corona wave, the first large group of lung covid patients ends up at the UWV. The first corona infection in the Netherlands was established on February 27, 2020. Up to and including May, the UWV assessed 736 lung covid patients this year. In total, about 3 percent of the total WIA influx this year can be attributed to lung covid.

An inspection takes place when employees have been ill for two years and are therefore unable to work or work less. The UWV determines whether they are eligible for a WIA benefit. According to the UWV, the figures show that ‘long-term corona complaints often have a major, far-reaching impact on the lives of clients’.

For most people with long covid, the conclusion is that they can no longer work (for the time being), and that they are therefore entitled to a full benefit. The conclusion of 8 percent of the employees is that they are ‘completely and permanently’ incapacitated for work. They receive a so-called IVA benefit.
