Luisa Görlich is now on the way to a comeback after tearing her cruciate ligament in the spring. She has already experienced some impressive moments, which the team world champion in ski jumping describes in her sport.de column. She also reveals what she expects from her DSV colleagues.
Finally it was that time again! After my cruciate ligament injury and after almost a year of rehabilitation from morning to evening, I was able to get back on the snow and on skis – a moment that I had been looking forward to for so long.
Last week I was again on the Oberstdorf cross-country ski trails. It’s always a special feeling to perform these movements again for the first time after a long period without snow. I did a bit of technique training and slowly tried to get used to the “device” again. It was almost like coming home.
In addition to cross-country skiing, telemark training was also on the agenda. It’s a welcome change that’s not only fun, but also trains movement. We also went ice skating – everything went well here too and I felt that my knee could withstand the demands; I also allowed myself a few jumps on the ice, which really put me in a good mood.
Training on snow, small tests again and again with selective stress and a few tears to ensure that everything held up and worked again – these were the last days and at the same time the best days of the year – moments in which I had my comeback and the World Championships in Trondheim in mind have.
The connection to the team was always there; everyone was rooting for me; Small rehabilitation successes were celebrated like hill records. The solidarity was and is gigantic.
Luisa Görlich: New trainer with “unconventional approaches”
That’s why I can also say: the mood before the start of the season was great and the first World Cup successes in Scandinavia gave the team a lot of wind under their wings.
The girls worked incredibly well over the summer. When you look at the performances in Lillehammer, it immediately becomes clear: the hard training paid off. The new coach in particular has brought a fresh dynamic to the team.
His approaches are rather unconventional, which I personally think is great. It shows that you can achieve a lot with alternative methods – and that’s definitely not wrong.
Now I’m looking excitedly towards China. I am sure that we will experience a lot there. With the energy and motivation we are feeling right now, we can look forward to an exciting winter season.
Kind regards
Luisa Gorlich
