Lars Stindl before a sensational move to the 2nd Bundesliga?

Borussia Mönchengladbach’s captain Lars Stindl may be facing a surprise move to the 2nd Bundesliga.

As “Bild” reports, a return of the 34-year-old to Karlsruher SC is “conceivable” in the summer after his contract in Gladbach expires.

Stindl went through the youth teams of the KSC until 2007 and then took his first steps in the professional business there. In 2010 he moved on to Hannover 96. In 2015 Gladbach secured the services of the offensive player for three million euros.

Stindl has made 255 competitive appearances for Borussia (79 goals and 61 assists). In the current season he is one of the top performers in coach Daniel Farke’s team.

According to the report, there were talks about extending the cooperation between Stindl and Gladbach and these should continue in the near future. The result of these negotiations is still “completely open,” it says.

Sports director Roland Virkus explained that the club management was “in intensive exchange” with the veteran. Stindl is “extremely important for the team”.

Gladbach or KSC? Lars Stindl’s future open

“I don’t want to talk too much about the future, but I have already emphasized that Lars is brutally important on the pitch and in the dressing room,” said Farke recently.

At KSC they keep an eye on Stindl’s situation in Gladbach. “If it is the case that he is really drawn back home in the summer and he still wants to play football, we will definitely deal with the topic. Then we will also seek contact with him on our own,” said manager Oliver Kreuzer the “Baden Latest News”.

Stindl built a house in Waghäusel in the district of Karlsruhe. The return there with his wife and two children is “a done deal”, writes “Bild”, only the timing is still unclear.
