Kyrgios on fan disruption in Finale: “She’s drunk”

Tennis pro Nick Kyrgios felt disturbed by what he saw as a drunk spectator when he lost to Novak Djokovic in the final at Wimbledon.

“I’m playing in the Wimbledon final against one of the best players in history. I don’t need someone to talk nonsense to me every point,” said the 27-year-old. “I’ve been out a few nights in my life and I knew she had too much. I said to the referee: ‘She talks to me a lot and she’s drunk. What are you going to do about it?’

Kyrgios had already complained to referee Renaud Lichtenstein during the game and accused the spectator of having had “700 drinks”. The 27-year-old received a warning during the game. “I wouldn’t say she cost me the game,” said Kyrgios. At one point he thought, “You either give them water or throw them out.” Kyrgios lost in his first Grand Slam final to the now seven-time Wimbledon winner Djokovic 4: 6, 6: 3, 6: 4, 7: 6 (7: 3).
