Oops, should the guys from the 538 morning show be worried? A joke was made there about the brother-in-law of their boss John de Mol. “Jeroen views women as objects of desire!”
That criticism of the billionaire De Mol family is very sensitive was recently demonstrated when RTL Boulevard hastily cut a critical note about Linda de Mol from the broadcast. But the morning show of Radio 538 has now posted a fragment online in which resident comedian Rob Scheepers makes a joke about her sweetheart Jeroen Rietbergen.
Totally inappropriate
In his item, Rob brings up the image of Linda’s sweetheart as ‘Dirty Jeroentje’: “After 35 years, the Miss Netherlands pageant is ending because it is said to be outdated. And rightly so, it is completely inappropriate to regard women solely as objects of desire, according to pianist Jeroen Rietbergen.”
Rob’s joke is short, but still: it’s a joke about Linda and her lover. And that on her brother John de Mol’s radio station. Is this acceptable? Is this ‘editorially prepared’? Or should 538 borrow the scissors from RTL Boulevard?
Joke about Amalia
In the same item, a joke is also made about Crown Princess Amalia, who gets her own wax figure in Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam. “Because of Amalia’s weight loss, Madame Tussauds unexpectedly had seventeen kilos of wax left over and they have now made a statue of Dolf Jansen from it,” Rob jokes.
By the way, Amalia doesn’t seem to be very happy about it at all, according to the comedian. He ‘quotes’ her: “Not for me. If I want to look at stiff members of the royal family, I will visit the royal crypt in Delft!”
