Jeremy Allen White voices Jabba the Hutt’s son in The Mandalorian & Grogu

The lead actor from “The Bear” will lend his voice to the character Rotta the Hutt.

Not much was known about the “Star Wars” spin-off “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” which will be released in 2026, apart from the director and producer. Now a new detail has come to light. Jeremy Allen White, known as star chef Carmen Berzatto from the FX series “The Bear,” is said to be taking on the voice role of Rotta the Hutt in the film.

An It-Guy as a slime monster

Journalist and film critic Jeff Sneider confirmed to YouTuber Kristian Harloff that he knew of White being cast in the production. “Jeremy Allen White from ‘The Bear’ is joining the ‘Star Wars’ universe,” Sneider announced, “I can tell you that much right now.” That only makes sense for him and Harloff, after all, the 33-year-old is according to Tom Holland and Timothée Chalamet, “one of the It guys at the moment”.

When Sneider reveals White’s role on an envelope, Harloff is again surprised. Why would a “handsome guy” and “significant talent” like him voice the slimy descendant of the Tatooine gangster who first appeared as a baby in the animated series “The Close Wars”? “That’s what my sources told me,” Sneider replies with a smile, “I mean… it’s a speaking role. It’s not like he’s wearing the costume.”

“The Mandalorian & Grogu” – Much remains unknown

Both men do not provide any further information about the plot of “The Mandalorian & Grogu”. But it stands to reason that Rotta the Hutt could become the antagonist of the bounty hunter and his little, green foster son. In the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian,” their dynamic struck a chord with “Star Wars” fans.

Both also appear in several episodes in the spin-off “The Book of Boba Fett” and support the eponymous main character in defending his territory in the city of Mos Espa on Tatooine.

Both series were written by Jon Favreau, who will also direct “The Mandalorian & Grogu”. Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm and executive producer on “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett,” is also back as a producer.
