The end at AZ seems near for Pantelis Hatzidiakos. The Greek defender would like to continue his career with the interested Italian Bologna. In addition, it is highly questionable whether Hatzidiakos can count on a permanent base due to increasing competition.
AZ coach Pascal Jansen chooses Bruno Martins Indi and Sam Beukema as the central duo this season. Because Yukinari Sugawara was injured for a long time, Hatzidiakos played as right back. The Japanese is now fit and it seems only a matter of time before he returns to the starting eleven. AZ will also soon have Zinho Vanheusden available. The Belgian defender has been hired from Inter and is training with the group again after an injury.
Change of agent
Last season, Hatzidiakos announced that he was open to a new step. The fact that it has not yet been successful was reason for him to change agent. Previously, his interests were represented by the recently deceased Mino Raiola and José Fortes Rodriguez, but now the Greek international is with Stellar Groups.
Hatzidiakos’ contract with AZ will run until the summer of 2024. Rental is not an option for AZ. The Alkmaar club informs NH Sport that it does not want to respond to ‘rumours’. At the moment, Hatzidiakos is still training with the selection at the complex in Wijdewormer.
Djordje Mihailovic
AZ is also busy signing Djordje Mihailovic. The fifteen-time American international is a central midfielder who is expected to finish the season with CF Montréal in Major League Soccer. He would then come to Alkmaar permanently on 1 January.
AZ will play the next match on Thursday. In Portugal, the return against Gil Vicente in the play-offs of the Conference League is on the program. Jansen’s team defends a 4-0 lead.
