Is Lucien Laviscount the next 007?

New year, new James Bond rumor mill.

Now the London tabloid “Daily Mail” reports, with reference to insider circles, that the casting team led by Bond producer Barbara Broccoli is said to have shortlisted the busy (series) actor Lucien Laviscount for 007.

Bond Ranking: “Die Another Day”:

The Briton, born in 1992, was able to inspire an international audience in his Prince Charming role as Alfie in the romantic format “Emily in Paris”.

For a long time, UK colleague Idris Elba seemed to be “top of the Bond list”. But he waved his thanks.

In late summer, the producers explained in the US entertainment trade magazine “Variety” why the supposedly lucrative and prominent agent role is not so easy to fill:

“We love Idris,” Broccoli said in late August 2022. “It just so happens that this person won’t be available for a couple of years otherwise. And if we cast Bond, that’s a 10, 12 year commitment. So he’s probably thinking, ‘Do I really want this?’ Not everyone wants to do that. It was hard enough getting Daniel Craig to do it at the time.”

The London boulevard now claims to have learned that the Broccoli team put on record how dapper Lucien Laviscount would look in a tuxedo. Visually, it is perfectly tailored to the role. In his early 30s, he also fits into the grid of a long-term commitment as the successor to the resigned Daniel Craig.

But the Bond coffee grounds readers have also discovered a disadvantage:

Since 2011, Laviscount has appeared on the second-to-third tier reality show Celebrity Big Brother. In these early years, his “real” acting career had not yet taken off. As the saying goes: “He was young and needed the money.”

However, this prominence as a trash player would in turn have the advantage that Laviscount has collected a considerable fan base. And that across generations, of course.

While he only appeared in small TV guest roles in his early years, he later gave the Billy Fuckin Ayers in the series adaptation “Snatch”. He played Early Gray in the anthology series Scream Queens. Horror fans have known him since 2017 from “The Bye Bye Man”. In the near future he can be seen in the science fiction thriller “Last Sentinel”. The film, which stars ‘House of the Dragon’ star Rhys Ifans, is slated for a US release in 2023.

Apparently busy, Laviscount can now enter the negotiation poker. So this really begins….
