Rostedt, who is heavily in debt, had to go to the Court of Appeal, even if he was satisfied with the district court’s verdict.

Today, Tuesday, Jethro Rostedt, 50, will answer to the charges of gross financial crimes by the Court of Appeal. Reported about it Ilta-Sanomat.

According to Ilta-Sanom, Rostedt would have been satisfied with the previous district court verdict.

– Nothing really surprises here anymore. After all, this is a completely stupid system, that if the prosecutor complains, I have to complain too. I would have been quite satisfied with the verdict.

Rostedt plans to appeal to the Court of Appeal for unreasonable media coverage.

– Public figures are punished more often than others, he told Ilta-Sanom.

This is what it’s all about

In September 2025, Rostedt was sentenced to a suspended prison sentence of one year and eight months for tax fraud in the district court of Varsinais-Finland. In addition, he received 90 hours of community service. He avoided an absolute sentence in the district court by confessing to the crimes.

More specifically, Rostedt was charged with one basic tax fraud and three gross tax frauds from 2016–2020. Rostedt was ordered to reimburse the tax administration a total of 599,238.64 euros.

However, the prosecutor expressed his dissatisfaction with the sentence and demands that Rostedt’s sentence be changed to unconditional.

– In my opinion, the verdict was already really harsh in the courts, Rostedt stated in a text message earlier to Iltalehti.

Rostedt has filed a counter-appeal, in which he demands that his sentence be reduced to one year and four months of suspended imprisonment without community service.

Distraint

Rostedt has a long foreclosure record. According to the register dated May, there were more than nine million euros in receivables.

In March, Rostedt commented to Iltalehte about the amount, which at that time was 8.8 million.

– The purpose is to collect all the debts together and when the matter is clear, weed out the ones that don’t belong there, Rostedt says and continues that this partly explains the large share of interest.

Rostedt said at the time that he would take care of his foreclosure debt on time.

– Of course it takes time. They have already been paid for in the millions, he says.

Jackpot

In early May, Rostedt won Pacthouseseries, for which he received 50,000 euros as a prize.

When Rostedt was asked in that context whether he intends to use the profit amount to pay the pending foreclosure debt, he said:

– Yes, I mean of course.

At the time, Iltalehti also asked the Foreclosure Service what would happen to a large amount if the winner has a foreclosure debt.

If a person has pending foreclosure debt and wins, for example, a large sum of money from a TV show, it can be foreclosed if the foreclosure is informed of the income in time.

– That is, if there is no other property from which the foreclosure debt could be collected, and it is known that the person receives such a reward, then of course it will be foreclosed, the Foreclosure Office said at the time.

For example, if the person lives abroad or the reward is paid to a foreign bank account, the Finnish bailiff practically cannot access the funds in question.
