In your placethe plot del film
Luca Molteni (Argentero) and Rocco Fontana (Fresi) are two men at the antipodes. The first is an architect self-confident, single and attentive to the line. He lives in the city, in a super-technological house, and has the strong ability to make women fall at their feet. The beautiful and damned classic. The second is instead a clumsy, insecure surveyor and overweight, therefore perpetually on a diet, but with poor results. He lives in the countryside with his wife Claudia (Ambra Angolini) and three childrenAlice (Carolina Poccioni), Salvo (Marco Todisco) and Sarah (Giulietta Rebeggiani).
Both work for two companies that produce sanitary ware, which are close to the merger. When the manager, Mrs. Welter (Pia Lanciotti), explains to them that the company that will be set up is up for grabs one place as creative directortests them. For a week they will have to exchange lives. The car, the office, the house, but also the respective partners.
An absurd request, for which neither is preparedbut in the end they accept in order not to succumb. From the start, the undertaking proved even more difficult than expected. Rocco has no idea how to activate the commands of the architect’s home automation house and, above all, she has to manage the comings and goings of lovers and their husbands blinded by jealousy.
Rocco savors freedom, Luca the warmth of a family
Luca is not well received by Claudia and her three childrenis forced to follow Rocco’s diet and in the village bar he meets Anna (Rossi), his former flame with whom he did not exactly behave like a gentleman. Both Luca and Rocco will be the protagonists of a nightmare, but they hold fast not to give way to the other. However, over the course of the week they will enjoy some perks of the rival’s life.
Rocco savors the thrill of breaking the diet and befriends his neighbor Ines (Grazia Schiavo)trusted friend of the architect. Luca, refractory to sentimental ties, experiences the warmth of a family for the first time. And perhaps, for the first time, begin to consider the hypothesis of saying enough to flash engagements of three daysin the name of a solid and lasting relationship.
Little by little, moreover, he enters the family structure. She establishes a harmony with Claudia, the boys and Rocco’s mother-in-law, Erminia (Fioretta Mari), provoking the jealousy of the surveyor. Mostly, he notices Salvo’s talent. He is good at drawing, but his father and mother dissuade him from cultivating his passion, because they fear that in the future he may encounter the same difficulties experienced by Rocco. Luca will try to build a bridge between the boy’s dreams and the fears of his parents.
The pitfalls of prejudice
His convictions on life as a single convinced, then, begin to waver when he realizes that Anna is not just one of the many conquests, but an intelligent, nice woman, capable of giving him a hard time. The bartender, however, is still angry at the treatment she received shortly before her and it will be difficult to prove to her that she, under the Adonis aspect, is hiding. a man ready to fall in love for the first time.
After the initial distrust, Luca and Rocco will find good in each other’s life. Specifically, Luca will reflect on his own concept of family and on the traumas of the past. “I’ve spent my life fighting my father and I don’t want to become like him,” he confides to his rival in a moment of unusual harmony. And who knows he may not be able to defeat his fears once and for all.
In your place is a funny comedy with an emphasis on first impressions, which can sometimes turn out to be wrong. The dress does not make the monk, it is said, and the film by Max Croci points to this: dismantle the prejudice which often prevents you from having a clear and impartial look at things. In another situation, Luca and Rocco would never have met nor would they have felt any interest in each other’s life.
Indeed, they would hate each other to the skin. Instead, they will learn the hard way that sometimes friendship hides in the most unexpected people and circumstances. Circumstances that lead to reflect on the need to say important no, even at the cost of losing your job to save your dignity.
