SPOILER ALERT: Only read if you’ve already seen Stranger Things Season 4
After Kate Bush, Metallica can now look forward to being part of the “Stranger Things” soundtrack. Her song “Master of Puppets” from the 1986 album of the same name plays a pretty big role in the series. In an Instagram post, the band is enthusiastic about it.
“The way the Duffer brothers integrated music into ‘Stranger Things’ has always been on a high level,” shared Metallica. One is overjoyed that “Master of Puppets” has not only been included in the show, but is also the focus of a central scene.
“We were so excited to finally see the final version,” the band wrote. One was “blown away” by the result. “It’s so well done that a few fans guessed the song just because they could see Joseph Quinn’s hands in the trailer for a few seconds,” they marveled. “How cool is that please?”.
With guitar against Vecna
In said scene, the main characters of the series try to kill the villain Vecna. While Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Max (Sadie Sink) try to lure him into a trap, Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Eddie (Joseph Quinn) have a very special task: they must distract Vecna’s army from bat-like monsters. So Eddie grabs his electric guitar and plays “Master Of Puppets”.
Thanks to Eddie, Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Steve (Joe Keery) and Robin (Maya Hawke) are able to set Vecna on fire with Molotov cocktails. But is this also the end of the villain? Fans will have to wait until the next season.
Back on the charts
Like “Running Up That Hill”, “Master Of Puppets” finds its way back into the charts. The song is currently 12th in the US Spotify Top 50 and 15th in the UK. Metallica’s eight-minute song is 26th in the streaming service’s global top 50. In Germany, “Master of Puppets” has not yet made it into the charts.
