Heracles is the new (shared) leader of the Kitchen Champion Division. The team from Almelo booked a deserved 2-0 victory over Helmond Sport with ten men and thus equaled PEC Zwolle. Both teams have 19 points from 8 matches and a goal difference of plus 13.
It was not easy for the team of trainer John Lammers. Heracles had to continue with ten men after fifteen minutes after Anas Ouahim was shown red for a far too hard foul. However, ambitious Helmond Sport, which has been underperforming so far, was unable to take advantage of the numerical superiority.
Just after the break, Lucas Schoofs gave the home team a 1-0 lead with a clever header. Just before time, Werder Bremen mercenary Abdenego Nankishi put an end to all doubt: 2-0.
Willem II climbed to fifth place. Partly due to two goals from Michael de Leeuw, the Tilburgers won 1-3 at TOP Oss. Telstar lost a 0-1 lead at VVV. In the seventh minute of injury time, Sven Braken equalized in Venlo. MVV won 1-2 at FC Dordrecht and climbed to seventh place.
