Wilfred Genee’s new football talk show, Veronica Offside, is nowhere near the hit that predecessor Veronica Inside was. In fact: “He scores market shares below the channel average!”
Veronica Inside, in which Wilfred Genee analyzed football matches for years together with Johan Derksen and René van der Gijp, is no more. The gentlemen are now making a successful daily program on SBS 6. The successor Veronica Offside, in which Wilfred sits at the table with Andy van der Meijde and Wesley Sneijder, among others, is not a great success.
Wilfred disappoints
It’s especially the Friday episode of Veronica Offside that is struggling. Yesterday, for example, only 170 thousand viewers (3.3 percent market share) watched Wilfred’s program. In comparison, Veronica’s latest weekly average is 4.0 percent market share.
Wilfred scores slightly better in the commercial target group 20 to 54 years, namely 4.2 percent. “But that too is below the channel average and therefore does not help the channel. Oh dear. The Monday episode is doing better with 277 thousand viewers and 7.2 percent in target audience. However, it is only half of what Veronica Inside scored,” says viewing figure expert Tina Nijkamp.
Got Talent on one
Holland’s Got Talent was again the big winner in prime time yesterday with 1.2 million viewers (24 percent) on RTL 4. “A big windfall for Jamai, Chantal Janzen and Edson da Graça, all three of whom achieved very disappointing figures with a different program. (Lego Masters, Wrong But Gold and Festival of Love”, thus Tina.
She continues: “It’s good news for Jamai in particular and he will be extra happy with the numbers because both Lego Masters and Holland’s Got Talent are programs that he has taken over from another host.”
amusement
Tina has the idea that Holland’s Got Talent is aiming for something more gloating again. “After the Voice era, where we mainly only saw very good candidates in talent shows, Holland’s Got Talent now seems to be heading towards the ‘Idols/Popstars/HGT on SBS 6’ era again.”
She continues: “The red crosses seem to be used more often, edited ‘blocks’ with ‘funny bad rejected’ artists make it to the broadcast, there is more laughter at certain candidates and we see more ‘surprised’ faces at the presentation. So perhaps a shift in trend. In any case, it scores.”
