This is certainly not how Anthony Modeste imagined his reunion with 1. FC Köln. In the bitter defeat of Borussia Dortmund, the BVB newcomer could hardly set any accents. There was then clear criticism from TV expert Dietmar Hamann.
“He no longer comes into the room to attack the ball,” complained Hamann at “sky“. BVB is playing “ten men at the moment”, was the harsh verdict of the former national player. Hamann also demanded: “It is high time that Moukoko got his chance.” Lost against 1. FC Köln, came on as a substitute 20 minutes before the end.

Modeste is “not the player for the classic Dortmund game, but a second option. He’s a real force with standards and high crosses. He uses his body like few others. With a player that you can play high and who secures the balls, you are more difficult to calculate”, Stöger listed the qualities of the BVB professional. But ultimately, like any attacker, Modeste is measured by his goal rate.
