The handball players of HSV Solingen-Gräfrath paid dearly for their Bundesliga premiere.

The reigning German champions SG BBM Bietigheim suffered the expected high defeat.

In the end, the team from the south-west, which was made up of many national players, won 43:20 (21:13) against the newly promoted team from Solingen.

The title favorite

The favorite for the title set a high pace right from the start, which the guests had little to oppose. It was 11:2 after just nine minutes.

Until the break, the guests were at least able to keep the deficit within limits. Immediately after the break, however, the Bietigheimers turned up the heat again and threw out the overwhelming victory with 27:14 and 37:16.
