It should have been the party of Oliver Zeidler, who trains daily on the Olympic rowing course near Munich and where his grandfather became Olympic champion in 1972. In the run-up to the European Championships, the German media was full of the possibility that Zeidler would win an important title after 50 years on the same rowing course as his grandfather. Things went differently.
