Heracles Almelo immediately says goodbye to head coach Frank Wormuth, the future trainer of FC Groningen. This conclusion was drawn after a number of discussions that were held today.
,,We spoke with Frank, the staff and the players today, and it has become clear that there is insufficient confidence to enter these play-offs with Frank as head coach,’ says technical director Tim Gilissen.
“We believe that we have to break through something based on this information. The technical staff, led by René Kolmschot and supported by the group of players, will do everything they can to achieve enforcement. We think Frank is a professional, and we owe him a lot of thanks for the past four seasons. We make this decision with a heavy heart, but in the best interest of the club at this important stage.”
Sentenced to play-offs
Heracles lost 3-1 to Sparta Rotterdam during the last round in the Eredivisie on Sunday. The Almeloërs finished sixteenth and are therefore sentenced to the play-offs. Excelsior is the first opponent of Heracles.
Frank Wormuth will be the new head coach of FC Groningen from the 2022/2023 season. The German signed a contract in January until mid-2025.
