Ford is behind Finns’ love of F1

Finland got excited about formulas with Ford, writes Janne Palomäki.

Ford’s decision to team up with Red Bull is excellent news for all F1 nostalgics.

Developed by the “Blue Oval”. The Cosworth engine became the industry standard for almost 20 years. Lotus driver Graham Hill started the 1968 Cosworth winning streak, during which the traditionally powerful V8 captured 12 of a possible 15 drivers’ titles.

The general education of Finns also includes knowing that Keke Rosberg was the last hero of that streakas he fought heartily against the turbos in his 1982 Williams Ford engine.

Unfortunately, the brand fell into a dark F1 recession after the success of the big boy from Iisalmi.

People under 45 may have trouble believing that Ford is still the third most successful F1 engine manufacturer in history (after Ferrari and Mercedes).

F1 was longing for such a return to its roots.
