CVV Fit Boys from Beilen will play in the fourth division of Saturday football for the first time since 2009/2010. The team of trainer Otto Halmingh was practically the entire season at the bottom and that did not change on the last day of play. At BSVV, the yellow-green formation did not go further than a draw: 1-1.
The goal on the home side was scored by Raymond Zuidema. Mike Jonink scored a point for his team just before the end, but that did not prevent him from progressing to the fourth division. Fit Boys already had it in their own hands at the start of the last round. It had to win against BSVV itself and then hope that SVN’69 would get a knock on a visit to VV Hollandscheveld. That game ended 3-3. Enough for SVN’69 to avoid direct relegation at the expense of Halmingh and his selection.
“We stayed on the elastic for a long time. In the last few weeks, the hope grew to avoid direct relegation, but in the end we are just a little short. What that is? On the one hand, experience, on the other hand, we lack scoring ability”, Halmingh responds.
In the match against BSVV this afternoon, Fit Boys did have chances to get more than a draw. “After the 1-1 we hit the bar and the referee overlooked a handball in the BSVV penalty area,” says the trainer disappointed. “But the club is very realistic. If we had stayed in it, it would have been a world performance. Now we go to the fourth division and try again.” Halmingh extended his contract with the Beilenaren at the beginning of this year. “I think it’s very special that the club keeps confidence in my abilities.”
