The Dutch national team has won a victory against Wales in the final phase of the Nations League. The first international goal by Teun Koopmeiners gave the Orange the lead and in the final phase former AZ player Wout Weghorst helped his team to the win: 1-2.
In the opening phase, the only Orange danger came from the foot of Koopmeiners, who has been playing for Atalanta Bergamo since last summer. Towards the end of the first half, the Dutch national team got more and more control over the game, but there were no great opportunities. PSV player Cody Gakpo was the closest to scoring, but his effort went just wide.
Tandem Schouten and Koopmeiners
The Dutch national team came out of the dressing room well and Koopmeiners gave the team a deserved lead. The midfielder hit hard on the advice of former Telstar player Jerdy Schouten, who incidentally made his debut for the Orange squad and kept Frenkie de Jong on the bench until halfway through the second half.

Koopmeiners’ goal seemed enough for the win, but in stoppage time Norrington-Davies knocked his opponent Hans Hateboer in the air and headed home: 1-1. It seemed as if the Orange squad would run into a loss of points in the final phase, but Wout Weghorst headed in the 1-2 from a cross by Tyrell Malacia. Just before that, Bruno Martins Indi made his comeback in Orange after a five-year absence.
