Female basket team Kortrijk Spurs faces opposition in Eurocup

Kortrijk, coached by former Belgian Cats selection boss Philip Mestdagh, will play against Italian Sassari in the qualifications. The first leg is scheduled for October 6 in the Lange Munte in Kortrijk, the return will take place in Sardinia on October 13.

Sassari finished tenth out of fourteen teams in the Italian league last season and had to play play-outs to ensure retention. The club remained in the top division after a 2-0 win against Libertas Moncalieri. A number of Italian clubs do not play in Europe and therefore Sassari got the chance to play the preliminary round in the Eurocup.

If the Kortrijk ladies survive the preliminary round, they qualify for the actual Eurocup. In it they end up in a group with the loser of the Euroleague duel between Villeneuve of Girona, La Roche Vendee and the London Lions.
