In the night between Friday and Saturday around 4 am local time, the police Kansas City intervened on Troost Avenue after some reports of a shooting in progress. Arriving at the scene, the officers found a large crowd dispersing and three injured adult women, who were initially rescued on the spot. In total, nine people were injured, fortunately all with non-fatal injuries, while three people were transported to hospital as a precaution to receive treatment.
The proximity to England’s withdrawal
The episode occurred about six kilometers from Swope Soccer Villagethe structure intended as the basis of theEngland during the Worldbut the police nevertheless clarified that the shooting did not occur near an official tournament venue. There are therefore no links between the incident and the English national team, which fortunately was not in Kansas City: the staff and players were in fact in Florida to prepare for the friendly match with the New Zealandand then move to Orlando on the occasion of the last test against the Costa Rica and finally reach base in Kansas City around June 13th.
