The anything but silent separation from longtime goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic was the dominant topic of conversation at FC Bayern for weeks. Now Munich can probably present a successor in a timely manner. At least that’s what a recent media report says.
According to information from the TV broadcaster “Sky”, FC Bayern has managed to sign Michaelrechner from Bundesliga competitor TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. The official confirmation of the personnel was still pending on Tuesday afternoon.
Previously, there had been speculation for days about who could succeed Tapalovic in the sensitive position of goalkeeping coach with the German record champions.
Michaelrechner has already worked successfully with Bayern head coach Julian Nagelsmann during his first professional stint in Hoffenheim between 2016 and 2019.
The 42-year-old is said to have been Nagelsmann’s absolute dream solution for the post of goalkeeping coach.
As stated in the most recent media reports, an official announcement of the computer change to the German record champions should be made in a timely manner. So far, nothing is known about the further transfer modalities.
Computer with the professionals at TSG Hoffenheim since 2015
After the dismissal of Tapalovic, who had worked successfully with Bayern’s goalkeepers around Manuel Neuer for over a decade, ex-professional Tom Starke took over the tasks on an interim basis. From now on, Starke will work again as goalkeeper coordinator at the FC Bayern Campus.
Computer himself has worked as a goalkeeping coach in the Kraichgau for many years. Since 2008, he has worked in his capacity with many youth teams at Hoffenheim and was promoted to the first team in 2015.
He has also been the goalkeeper coach for the Turkish national team for almost a year and a half.
