Mexico, Lapland, France. All countries and continents pass by at the grand carnival parade in Naarden today. The highlight of a weekend full of party. “Let’s go!”
“It’s allowed again, after two years of corona!” The atmosphere is exuberant in Naarden. A large procession runs from the Energiestraat to the terminus in the fortress. “I took four days off,” a spectator shouts. “I’m only going to party and dance, wonderful. This party really belongs to Naarden!”
Eleven carts compete for the prizes. “We still have to deliberate, everyone has done their best,” said the chairman of the jury. And they do that while enjoying a drink. “Yeah, we have to stay a little warm here, haha.”
Twin Prince
Not one, but two carnival princes are dancing on the cart of the Schuimlikkers from Ankeveen: René and André Bosson. “We are twin brothers, so we had to do this together. Very special, we’re going to enjoy it!”
