Professional cyclist Max Walscheid clearly missed out on a podium finish at the European Championships in Munich.
In the individual time trial in Fürstenfeldbruck on Wednesday, the 29-year-old finished 25th after a fall, well behind the new champion Stefan Bissegger from Switzerland.
After two previous successes at the European Championships, silver went to Bissegger’s compatriot Stefan Küng ahead of world champion Fillip Ganna (Italy). Miguel Heidemann came in 16th as the second German starter.
The women had already started on the 24-kilometer circuit. Lisa Brennauer clearly missed a medal in her last time trial and took twelfth place in the victory of the Swiss titleholder Marlen Reusser. Lisa Klein finished 22nd.
On Sunday the cycling competitions come to an end with the women’s road race. The almost 130 kilometers lead the athletes from Landsberg am Lech in the south of Munich via Lake Starnberg to Odeonsplatz in the center of the Bavarian state capital.
