Two full albums were released last year, and Ed Sheeran is now moving on. The musician wants to have his next work already finished.
Ed Sheeran returns to big pop
The British singer-songwriter announced this in an interview with the industry publication “Variety”. Ed Sheeran also gave glimpses of musical change. “– (SUBTRACT) was of course a completely different album that didn’t really call for big pop stuff,” the musician began. That’s about to change again: “It feels like I’m making big pop again for the first time in a long time. It’s pretty exciting.”

Ed Sheeran has apparently already filmed two music videos to accompany the songs from the new record. Two more episodes are scheduled for early 2025. According to his own statement, he is preparing for “a big promotional campaign”.
But before everything revolves around the musician’s new album, the focus will first be on his Christmas song “Under The Tree”, which Sheeran wrote for the Netflix film “That Christmas” – an animated film by director Richard Curtis, with which the Brit has been working for a long time is friends. Sheeran will also soon be touring in India, Bahrain, Qatar and Butan – the latter country making him the first international artist to ever perform.
Both – (SUBTRACT) and AUTUMN VARIATIONS were released in 2023. The latter was – apart from the collaboration album NO.6 COLLABORATIONS PROJECT (2019) – Ed Sheeran’s first album that was not named after a mathematical symbol. He didn’t reveal anything about the title of the upcoming work or a release date.
