Dramatic incident at Ed Sheeran’s trial: The plaintiff fell to the ground

Musician Ed Sheeran is currently being sued for copyright infringement in New York. Sheeran’s 2014 hit song Thinking Out Loud suspected to be a copy Marvin Gaye from a song published in 1973 Let’s Get It On.

The Wednesday session of the trial had to be temporarily interrupted due to a surprising incident. The person affected by the claim, Kathryn Townsend Griffinwas shortened in the middle of everything, reported ET Online.

The nurse who was there ran to Griffin. Griffin was wheeled out of the courthouse in a wheelchair and taken to the hospital. Griffin’s lawyers have said that his pre-existing medical conditions may have predisposed him to a seizure.

According to a person interviewed by ET Online, Sheeran was watching the situation with concern.

– The courtroom was in shock. No one was allowed to leave. At first, the situation was complete chaos.

Illegal borrowing

Let’s Get It On – hit written by Marvin Gaye and Ed Townsend are already dead. Townsend’s heirs filed a lawsuit against Sheeran, accusing him of illegally borrowing the song Thinking Out Loud in the paragraph. Kathryn Townsend Griffin, who passed out in court, is the daughter of Ed Townsend, who died in 2003.

In addition to Sheeran, Warner Music Group and Sony Music Publishing are the targets of the accusations.

– Defendants copied the essence of Let’s and repeated it repeatedly in Thinking. The melodic, harmonic and rhythmic structures of Thinking are not the result of independent creative work, the complaint says.

A video of the performance has also been used against Sheeran, where Sheeran plays these two songs mixed up in a so-called mash up. Sheeran has responded to the argument by stating that most pop songs consist of similar chord progressions.

– If I had done what you accuse me of, I would be an idiot if I stood on stage in front of 20,000 people and did something like that, Sheeran said in court.

Sheeran has also played mash ups of other well-known pop songs at his concerts.
