Di María leaves PSG at the end of the season

Argentinian striker Ángel Di María will leave top French club Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.

As PSG announced on Friday evening, the 34-year-old’s expiring contract will not be extended. The season finale of the champions against relegation candidate FC Metz on Saturday (9 p.m. / DAZN) will be his last appearance for the club.

“Ángel Di María left a lasting mark on the history of the club,” said PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi: “He will be remembered by the fans with his impeccable attitude and great commitment.”

For coach Mauricio Pochettino, Di María is “one of the best players to have worn this shirt”.

The offensive man moved from Manchester United to the French capital seven years ago and became the best assist provider in the club’s history with 111 assists in 294 competitive games.

In total he scored 91 goals and won 18 titles with PSG. After signing superstar Lionel Messi, Di María has often only made short appearances this season.

It is still unclear where Di María will go. According to media reports, he could switch to Italian Cup winners Juventus Turin.
