The Amsterdam cyclist Dylan Groenewegen started the season with a victory. Groenewegen won the bunch sprint in the first stage of the Saudi Tour.
“It was very hectic. I still had a flat tire at the end of the stage. The team did a very good job. We are in good shape, but every stage is different,” Groenewegen said afterwards.
Second was Dusan Rajovic and third was Max Walscheid. Cyclist Cees Bol rode his first race in the shirt of his new team Astana. The resident of Alkmaar finished seventh.
