Chinese-Canadian singer Kris Wu has been jailed. In China, he was sentenced to a total of 13 years in prison for rape. A court found him guilty of forcing three women to have sex in his apartment.

Wu forced the women to have sex when they were “drunk and unable to fight back,” the verdict said. In 2021, then-student Du Meizhu was the first to make allegations against Wu. At the age of 17, he lured her into sex with false promises such as job offers and alcohol. Several other women then came forward with similar allegations. In August 2021, Wu was arrested.

The court sentenced the 32-year-old to eleven and a half years in prison for rape. Add to this another sentence of one year and ten months for “the crime of gathering people into adultery.” After serving his sentence, he will be deported to Canada.

Kris Wu, whose real name is Wu Yifan, rose to fame as a member of the South Korean-Chinese K-pop group EXO.
