Car terminal in Zeebrugge is fully packed
Due to the congestion, car terminals have to turn down new traffic and the smooth processing of the cars is jeopardized.
However, the problem is not completely new. Orders from car manufacturers have been lagging behind for months and car transport is being done less and less by road. As a result, many European port terminals are full of cars.
“Space Running Out”
“We are also running out of space, Marc Adriansens of International Car Operators tells Flows.
“Our 375 hectares, 250 in Zeebrugge and 125 in Antwerp, are almost full. We are doing what we can to remain operational.”
Collaboration within the sector makes little sense because all available areas are filled.
The problem would not be solved immediately until next year, given the increasing import of Chinese cars via our ports
