A year after the end of her father Jamie Spears’ more than ten-year guardianship, Britney Spears has again made serious allegations against her family. “They threw me away — that’s how it felt, my family threw me away,” she said in a 22-minute interview audio messagewhich shared on YouTube, but deleted shortly afterwards.
In the message, she also criticizes her mother, Lynne Irene, and her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears. Neither would have done anything about the guardianship, no matter how abusive it was. “They secretly thought it was good that I was the bad guy.”
Most importantly, Spears rejects the reasons for starting the measure. Even her first forced admission to a hospital was for no reason. “There were no drugs in my blood, no alcohol, nothing, it was pure abuse,” says Spears. Her erratic behavior, which was the subject of many media, was also completely exaggerated. Her “craziness” consisted primarily of pranking paparazzi, which “to this day is one of the funniest aspects of celebrity I’ve tasted, so I don’t know what was so damaging about it.”
Britney describes the years as depressing. She had to work seven days a week without free time, her father forced her into inpatient therapy, which she felt like a prison. “I just remember that I had to do what I was told. I was told every day that I was fat.” She felt demoralized. “You made me feel like I was nothing. And I didn’t protest because I was scared.”
Lynne Spears responds to allegations
Lynne Spears publicly responded to her daughter’s allegations with an Instagram post. “All your life I have done my best to support your dreams and desires,” she writes. “I have never turned my back on you and never will.” She has tried countless times to make personal contact, but her daughter blocked every attempt. But this conversation must be private and private.
On August 26, Britney released the duet “Hold Me Closer” with Elton John. “I just recorded a great song with one of the most brilliant people of our time and I’m so grateful,” she said in the audio message. “But if you’re a weird, introverted oddball like me who often feels alone, and you had to hear a story like this today, know this: my life hasn’t been easy, and you’re not alone.
For more than ten years, the singer has been involuntarily under her father’s tutelage since 2008, after previously arousing excitement with her public appearance. It was not until 2021 that a court lifted the measure. During the years she was classified as a minor, Spears released four albums and toured extensively, prompting her fanbase to question the proportionality and launch the #FreeBritney campaign.
