The German men miss a medal again at the biathlon World Cup in Lenzerheide, but are greatly improved. Superstar Johannes Thingnes Bö weakens.

Philipp Horn fought around every second to the finish line, then congratulated the new world champion Eric Perrot Fair: The German biathletes again missed a medal at the World Championships in Lenzerheide, but was greatly improved.

After the debacle in Sprint and persecution, Horn rank seventh in Single Horn on Wednesday (2 shooting errors).

Significant progress at the shooting range make hope for a conciliatory World Cup degree in the coming days.

“Of course you dream of the medals. That is what counts at the World Cup,” said Horn on the “ARD” microphone: “You have nothing to do with the medals with two errors.”

In fact, with one failure, less would have been possible but even the unexpected jump to bronze. Of course, this was “incredibly annoying,” said Horn afterwards. “I tried to continue where I stopped persecution,” said the 30-year-old.

There Horn stormed from 44 to 17 – now the upward trend continued. “I have prudent why I do biathlon. Because it is my passion because it is fun,” said the best DSV athlete: “I know what I can do. That was fine.”

Behind Horn, Johannes Kühn (2) reached a good result as twelfth. “I am not dissatisfied. I am very satisfied with 90 percent, I would have needed at least one less for the front,” said Kühn, who started for the first time as part of the World Cup. Danilo Riethmüller (3) as 22nd and David Zobel (2), who had moved into the team for the battered Philipp Nawrath, left 28th.

Biathlon World Cup: Horror start costs Bö better placement

Behind winner Perrot, who spoke of an “incredible” day, silver went to the Italian Tommaso Giacomel (1), bronze to Perrot’s compatriot Quentin Fillon Maillet (3).

Record world champion Johannes Thingnes Bö showed a weaker performance in Lenzerheide for the first time. With three mistakes in the first shooting, the Norwegian gold medalist was far behind in the sprint and the persecution, in the end the dominator clearly missed a front placement with a total of five shooting errors.

On Thursday (4:05 p.m./ARD and Eurosport) the World Cup in Lenzerheide continues with the single mixed relay. The competition is extremely shooting due to the short circulation of 1.5 kilometers. Fast shooting and fast reloading are for the chance of a basic requirement for a medal – the races are usually extremely tight. At the end of the title fights, the respective seasons and mass starts are waiting at the weekend.
