For the first time in 24 years, HCAW won the Dutch championship last weekend. One says that the success comes from the strong pitching. The other thinks it’s because of coach Danny Rombley. The team itself is clear: “We are one chain,” said Rombley.
This is how the Bussumers describe themselves as a close-knit team. “It’s a brotherhood. Even if someone makes a mistake, we try to support each other,” says HCAW player Brendly Martina.
“We are one team,” adds Rombley. “If a piece of the chain is missing, it won’t work. But it all works,” said an enthusiastic pitcher Lars Huijer after the championship.
National champion
On Saturday, HCAW won the Dutch championship for the third time in club history. Rotterdam-based Neptunus was defeated 4-0 in the best-of-seven series in the Holland Series.
