Kahn insists on the fulfillment of the contract
Barcelona’s coach Xavi spoke up in the game of exchange around Robert Lewandowski. FC Bayern’s top scorer is “one of the options, there are negotiations,” explained the 42-year-old, but added: “He still has a year’s contract. However, it will not be easy with FC Bayern.”

The Munich have been tough so far. CEO Oliver Kahn once again ruled out a premature farewell to the world footballer in the summer. “That question does not arise. Robert Lewandowski has a contract until 2023 and he will fulfill it,” the 52-year-old told Welt am Sonntag. At the same time, Kahn confirmed that he had made an offer to extend the Polish national player beyond 2023. “We made his advisor a concrete offer. Otherwise we certainly wouldn’t say that.”
After the last game of the season in the Bundesliga, Lewandowski announced that he wanted to leave the German record champions. The 33-year-old also claimed that he had not received any offer from Munich to extend the contract.
FC Barcelona: Lewandowski transfer financially possible? Xavi has “trust”
FC Barcelona is said to offer Lewandowski a three-year contract. It is unclear whether Barça can raise the funds for a transfer. It is speculated that the fee will follow the sale of midfielder Frenkie de Jong (25, Man United is traded) could be paid. However, Xavi assured on Saturday: “Laporta (President of FC Barcelona, ed.) told me that we will be able to strengthen the team. We have confidence.” The premise is that the team becomes “competitive” again. “We have to step up, work harder to win titles.”
Should Lewandowski leave prematurely, it would be tantamount to saying goodbye to Borussia Dortmund and Munich after a total of twelve years in the Bundesliga. With 311 goals in 382 appearances, the veteran who is willing to change is in second place behind Gerd Müller (365) in the ranking of the best goal scorers since the league was founded in 1963. With a market value of 50 million euros, he would rank third among FC Bayern’s most valuable departures.
