Associations keep dues low thanks to TT Circuit

The seats will shine again when the TT Assen is held for the 92nd time. And a few days after the race, you can no longer see that more than a hundred thousand people have visited it. Various associations and organizations in and around Assen take care of this and in this way earn thousands of euros every year thanks to the TT.

In the week leading up to the race, the members of SV Tynaarlo will come to the circuit. Armed with a bucket of soapy water, they clean all the seats in the main grandstand. “That’s a lot of seats,” laughs Egbert Leiting, chairman of the football department of the club. “But if you are with 32 people, you have someone for each row and you can work towards each other from two sides. Then you are done in one and a half to two hours.”

Not only do they clean the seats before the races, after the training sessions you will also find the members of Tynaarlo in the stands. Then they sweep the stands clean. “In this way we can keep the contribution low and as an association we have money for fun initiatives. For example, we bought equipment for the gymnastics department and we are now saving for a panna field for the youngest football youth.”

SV Tynaarlo is a so-called omni association. All parts participate in the cleaning work. Leiting: “You clean up someone else’s mess, but it is a fun job to do. We also try to involve the youth in that, because anyone can do a little sweeping. This also teaches them immediately that you can and give something back to the association.”

Where SV Tynaarlo is active prior to the TT, HHCombi from Hooghalen and Hijken will be working on the circuit during and after the TT. “We always cleaned part of the circuit on the Monday evening after the TT,” says chairman Titia Kootstra. “And we’ve also been doing card checks on the courtyard for about eighteen years.”

Last year, the club was also allowed to paint the curbstones on the circuit for the first time, just like all the lines. “To our great regret, it remained at one time,” says Kootstra. “The circuit was satisfied with it, but has now opted for a professional party. For us it meant extra income, which was very welcome, especially after the losses we suffered during the corona period.”
