Condé double pack
Second division Arminia Bielefeld has to be relegated to relegation. East Westphalia lost 4-0 at 1. FC Magdeburg on the last day of the game and were unable to leave 16th place in the table. Competitor Eintracht Braunschweig lost at FC Hansa Rostock and still secured the class. In the relegation, SV Wehen Wiesbaden is now waiting for Uwe Koschinat’s team on June 2nd and 6th.
In the stadium, which was sold out with 26,320 spectators, goals from Amara Condé (38th minute) and Baris Atik (45th, penalty kick) were celebrated before the break. Captain Condé decided the game with his second goal in the 50th minute. Jason Ceka (66th) even increased. Bielefeld should have won and hoped for the competition from Braunschweig and Nuremberg to slip up. But they didn’t do the East Westphalia this favor. But they didn’t do their homework themselves.
The Franconians won 1-0 (1-0) at home strong SC Paderborn on Sunday and thus managed to save the game on their own. With his first goal of the season in the 20th minute, Lukas Schleimer was the acclaimed “Club” rescuer on the last day of the game. Sports director Dieter Hecking ended his temporary return to the coaching bench with a happy ending.
Hannover 96 ended the second division season with a home debacle. Lower Saxony lost 5-1 (0-3) against Holstein Kiel in their own stadium on Sunday and showed a shockingly poor performance. On the other hand, veteran Fin Bartels trumped again in his last game as a professional with the Kielers. The 36-year-old scored twice after the break (59th and 62nd minute) and thus celebrated a perfect end to his career. In the first half, Fabian Reese (21st), Timo Becker (23rd) and Benedikt Pichler (45th) scored for Kiel. Phil Neumann (72nd) scored for the hosts.
With several HSV professionals: Most valuable players in the 2nd Bundesliga
Newly promoted 1. FC Kaiserslautern ended the season with a 0:3 (0:1) home defeat against Fortuna Düsseldorf. Due to the bankruptcy, the Palatinate slipped down to ninth place in the table with 45 points. Fortuna secured fourth place with 58 points. In front of 47,956 spectators in the Fritz Walter Stadium on Sunday, David Kownacki scored the goals for the guests in the 17th and 76th minute and Daniel Ginczek (89th).
Braunschweig lost 1:2 (0:0) at FC Hansa Rostock. Since Arminia was defeated by 1. FC Magdeburg at the same time, Eintracht could not fall back to the relegation place on the last day of the game. Lukas Fröde gave Rostock the lead in the 58th minute. Immanuel Pherai, who was courted by several Bundesliga clubs, equalized with a penalty kick (69th). With the last action of the game, Pascal Breier made it 2-1 for Hansa (90+3).
FC St. Pauli ended the season as the best team in the second half of the season with a draw. Coach Fabian Hürzeler’s team drew 1-1 (0-1) against Karlsruher SC on Sunday and ended the season fifth in the table. Fabian Schleusener (45.+2 minutes) was successful for the guests just before the half-time break. Leart Paqarada (58th) equalized for the Kiez club. The guests from the southwest remain seventh.
